Terms of Use
RealtimeClipboard is a free tool with no accounts, provided as-is. Most of what a terms page usually governs does not exist here — there is no subscription, no login and no stored data — so this is short, and it concentrates on the parts that genuinely apply.

Agreement
Using this website, the app at /app, the command-line client or the desktop build means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use them. The service is operated by CadNative and maintained by Akshay Nikhare; the about page has the detail.
What the service is
A relay that forwards encrypted messages between devices holding the same session key, and a signalling path that lets those devices connect directly to send files. It is not storage, not a backup, and not a record. Messages exist in memory for the moment it takes to forward them and are never written to disk.
Your session key is your responsibility
The session key is a bearer credential: anyone who has it can join the session and read what is in it. That is a consequence of a short key with no account, not an oversight, and it means two things are on you.
Do not share a key with anyone you do not intend to share the clipboard with, and be careful where a share link is posted — a link contains the key. If a session needs more protection, lock it with a PIN.
A lost key cannot be recovered. There is no reset, because there is no account and nothing on the server that knows the session was yours. This is the same property that makes the service private, and it cannot be relaxed for one person without being relaxed for everyone.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
Send anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to send. Distribute malware, or content designed to compromise the device that receives it. Harass, threaten or impersonate anyone. Infringe copyright or any other right belonging to somebody else.
You also agree not to attack the service itself: no attempt to overload the relay, no automated flooding of sessions, no scraping or brute-forcing of keys, and no attempt to breach or circumvent its security. Testing the security of the service is welcome through the disclosure route on the contact page, which is the difference between research and an attack.
Because contents are encrypted before they are sent, misuse cannot be detected by inspection — there is nothing to inspect. Enforcement is therefore limited to blocking traffic patterns and, where required, responding to lawful requests with the little that exists.
Availability
There is no uptime guarantee. The relay may be restarted, rate-limited, moved or taken down without notice, and idle sessions are dropped. Treat anything you would be upset to lose as something to keep elsewhere as well — this is a way to move text between devices, not a place to leave it.
Advertising
This website and the app in a browser carry advertising served by Google AdSense, which is what pays for the relay. The desktop app and the VS Code extension carry none: Google does not permit its ads inside software applications, and no other network runs there either. Ads come from Google and its partners; their content is not chosen or endorsed here, and any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. What the ad and analytics tags can and cannot see is set out in the privacy policy.
Software licence
The source code is published under the MIT licence and the licence text governs the code itself — you may use, modify and redistribute it on those terms, including running your own relay. These terms of use cover the hosted service at this domain, not your own deployment of the software.
No warranty and limits of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It is free, it is maintained by one person, and it may have bugs.
To the maximum extent the law allows, CadNative and the maintainer are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost profits or lost session contents, arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
These terms may change, and the current version is always on this page with the date above. The site is open source, so the full history of what this page said and when is in the repository. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it.
